Opal Lighting History

Opal Lighting was formed in 2007 by Ben Briguglio as an architectural Lighting company to continue the manufacturing works at Taren point in Sydney that has been in continual operation for over 60 years.

Originally called TC Metal Works, founded by Terry and Rosalyn Griggs, the manufacturing arm of the business started operation around 1948.

The ability to produce light fittings was realised early on as the company developed from simple metal spinning and fabrication processes, towards the production of finished Lighting products.

The Briguglio family purchased the Business as it was known then as Regal Lighting in 1984. The next three decades saw the proliferation of our Australian designed and manufactured lighting systems that drew on the emerging technology of the era.

We brought to market some of the original LED architectural products in 2001 and have continued to follow the unprecedented progress of LED technology over the intervening years. Our long experience of Led technology is reflected in the quality of our current range of products.

Regal Lighting Systems was sold in 2005 to the Lighting Corporation and the factory continued to supply products to the corporate Regal Lighting Solutions entity.

Opal Lighting Systems took back one hundred percent ownership of the factory in Taren point in 2007.

Since then we have been striving to build a range of locally produced and imported architectural lighting that has both a pleasing design aesthetic and functional engineering integrity.

Our success and our reference is the many and varied number of architectural projects both commercial and high end residential that we have worked together with Architects, Consulting engineers and interior designers over the last seven years.
